This post marks the beginning of our obedience to share our story. The good, the bad and the ugly with hopes that others may learn from our wrongs and rights and our highest hope is that you will see the evidence of God’s handiwork in our marriage and come to know Him. The first confession, I, Wendy, have been running from a calling to share our story since it first faced substantial troubles and triumphs, belief and unbelief, after a reunion from an 18-month separation prompted by deployment to Iraq, not knowing the many subsequent deployments would bring many more trials.
Why now then? I have grown through a process of discipline over the past several years, and through these trials, Michael has surrendered his life to our Savior. All the ups and downs being surrendered to God have finally landed both Michael and me in a place where we are both willing, though still seasoned with fear, to share. As I’ve chosen to rejoice in the suck, hope in the hard, and find revelation in the mystery, this year my heart has been pricked with the word Inscribe: to write or carve on something especially as a formal or permanent record (Oxford Dictionary). Knowing the first conviction was to write our story. Fully believing that the carvings of pain and hurt will be redeemed by Him through this process and replaced and restored by Him. Stay tuned as we face the “this is too hard,” and the “we don’t have time,” and we commit to organizing or trials, with hopes to give his and hers accounts and finally a HIS account for various struggles that marriages in general face.
